Why is marriage equality important?  Same sex couples who live
together, pay bills together, depend on each other, plan their lives
together -- in short, live like married couples -- want the same
options and protections that are afforded a man and a woman when they
decide to commit their lives to each other.

Even more than that, every time a state includes same-sex couples in
the legal definition of marriage, American society gets closer to a
much-needed, long-awaited universal acceptance of the fact that love
is love, no matter who shares the connection.

Finally, the passage of Proposition 8 in California is a very
dangerous precedent for using a majority vote to limit the
opportunities and protections of a minority population.  Marriage is
an issue of personal significance, which poses no threat to anyone’s
safety or well-being.

While several straight allies in the entertainment industry have
voiced their support for marriage equality, JFP is the first openly
gay rap artist to release a song specifically to provide financial
support to an organization working to change outdated attitudes
towards same-sex couples.  Among gay rap artists, JFP is also the only
one to collaborate onstage and in the studio with a life partner.
CNOTE, an accomplished instrumentalist and composer, wrote and
performed the violin material in Never Disappear.  She also appears on
JFP’s album, EXODUS, available on Itunes, CDBaby, and AmazonMP3.  JFP
and CNOTE met 5 years ago in San Francisco when they were both
attending Metropolitan Community Church; they were married in an MCC
ceremony in 2006 by then-MCC Senior Pastor Rev. Dr. G. Penny Nixon.
Now Julie and Caroline eagerly await the day they and thousands of
others can get their marriage license in the state of California.
